small h
Mank is terrific, but unfortunately my pandemic brain is too sluggish to process all the snappy dialogue, so I might have to watch it again (even though it's 2+ hours). I annoyed Medium Sized H by yelling "look, it's the xxx shot!" whenever something looked Kane-y to me, which was often.
hollywood
Ah Gregg Toland's cinematography. And Welles had ceilings.
Sneakeater
They had ceilings then.
StephanieL
"One Man, Two Guvnors" on PBS. It was hilarious, and I didn't realize just how much improv and 4th-wall breaking is in there. (Though some of what looks like improv is actually scripted.) It must have been hysterical in person.
mitchells
The Bee Gees documentary on HBO. Like their music or not, I doubt there are any musical acts who reinvented themselves so many different times.
Steve R.
As I sit here in the den, watching Star Trek: Discovery, my wife is watching The Bee Gees doc. in the living room. I've seen most of it already. Always liked listening to their harmonies and the songs are harmless enough.
small h
Ted Lasso, on Apple Plus. It's very sweet. I suppose I'll watch The Undoing next, which I predict will not be very sweet.

N knew all of the early songs because her father liked the first-act version.
Anthony Bonner
Ted Lasso is wonderful. I just want more episodes. Interesting that he hews too close to a stereotype the English have of Americans, so the reviews there are pretty mediocre compared to coverage here. It's a great, sweet show

Not sure exactly why, but it puts me in mind of "My Name Is Earl," which I loved to death and which was gone too soon. The protagonists are sorta similar.
small h
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. I'm not the biggest August Wilson fan (too preachy and slow), but damn.
hollywood
Glynn Turman is good, but Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman are amazing. With music under the guidance of Branford Marsalis. Get thee to Netflix for this.
Wilfrid
Thanks all for the Ted Lasso recommendation. Very entertaining. I like the clash of cultures. I can't help seeing the team owner and her assistant as the latest of many incarnations of Lady Penelope and Parker.
small h
Giri / Haji. It's a thrill a minute! Like Killing Eve, only with fewer women and less sex. And more subtitles.
memesuze
G/H has a rooftop scene that will drop your jaw
