The Scream
Is Slip N Slide still around or is that just a lawsuit waiting to happen? Do you remember the clown head? It was attached to a hose and a part of the head would spin up or something like that. I vaguely recall the clown head but don't think I saw one outside of a commercial. This it it. We had one of these and were very dissapointed.
akiko
I always wanted a slip n slide. I also wanted an easy bake oven. But I was very happy with my lite brite and my spirograph. And I had a banana seat bicycle with polka dots on the seat and pink plastic tassles on the handles (okay, it was actually a hand me down from my sister but it made me very happy). The Scream
I had a slip n slide. Never had as much fun as those kids did in the commercials. I swear they must have lubricated the thing for filming. None of us could ever get as much momentum. I had an easy bake oven too. Piece of shit that never worked. My daughter convinced my mother to buy her on a couple of years ago. The new improved model is a piece of shit that doesn't work. She played with it twice. You didn't miss out on much. GrantK
There was a time when folks left their cars running to dash into a store for a quick errand. They still do that too here in Jersey. Of course sometimes the cars aren't there when they dash back out. I've seen two cars stolen that way.
Daisy
We had a slip n slide. We decided combining it with a game of Red Rover was a great idea--about a half hour in, my sister broke her ankle when she was hit by whoever was hurtling towards her on the thing. My parents were totally pissed I recall. I also had an easy bake oven--it did suck.
Rebecca
But, but, but what I mean is that I probably was. With a son in the room. After all, it WAS the hippy dippy sixties. My kids sometimes like to watch me get dressed. They think I'm really glamorous and get giddy watching me do my hair and make up. My boy notices right away when I have a new shade of lipstick or if I have my hair done a little differently. I think it's really sweet. I don't know what to say here. Nature or nurture? Need to get that boy into the kitchen with his father. Chop them garlics. Tote them trays. The fact that most likely you are actually VERY glamorous wrapped in all that cashmere is important modeling/parenting and children of all species enjoy preening. StephanieL
I always wanted a Lite Brite. I've no idea why my folks never got one for me. I did have a spirograph, and an Etch-a-Sketch that lasted for years until it started to leak. I also had Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys made from real wood.

I remember that.

Isn't it typical of all of us spoiled kids to pout about something we didn't get!!! I bought a Lite Brite for my kids and then quickly "disappeared" it due to the Lite pegs that got lost in the carpet and stalled the vacuum. The pieces! You never had enough to complete anything because they got lost. I just found a set of Bill Dings in a catalog and ordered two. They are still my favorite childhood toy. As soon as he started on solid foods he was opening the refrigerator and cupboards looking for things to eat. He loves playing soccer. And he has always liked girls. Had his first kiss in the park when he was 10 months old. Older woman, no less. She was 11 months old. He's THE MAN at his nursery school, girls giving him candy and chocolates, invitations to playdates...

I'd like to think it wouldn't be such a problem in the Zadi household if nature gave them a little Ethel Merman fan.

g.johnson
Back to the topic and another unfortunate Sunday evening experience, IIRC: Pinky and Perky. When I googled P&P I found something that combines two of Stone's major interests.

Was waiting for this . . . having an older sister can be puzzling. And what REALLY is Dora?
