bloviatrix
2. But what I really went there to try was the Waylon Braised Brisket. The Waylon -- smoked coke, bourbon, preserved lemon -- is perhaps my favorite cocktail. Brisket is my favorite cut of beef. Using smoked coke and bourbon to braise brisket is inspired. This dish really works. It now surpasses Matt Hamilton's coffee-braised brisket as my favorite (the Madison Restaurant having decamped to Florida, where you have to be as oblivious as my pre-death parents were to order brisket). COMP DISCLOSURE: Many drinks. An extra dessert. Smoked Coke? Explain please. Sounds v. intriguing.
Wilfrid1
Sounds intriguing, tastes a bit like an ashtray.
Sneakeater
They take Coca-Cola. They somehow smoke it. (Eben Freeman once sat me down and explained how, but somehow I never remember anything when I leave Tailor.) Some of us think it's delicious. If it's an ashtray, it's the best ashtray you've ever tasted.

Wilfrid1
Can't blame Tailor, I suppose, but Eater's report of the new bar menu left me a bit cold... SOHO: Tailor has just launched a new bar menu with all items under $11 including pickles... (cite) Wow. Pickles at the bar under eleven dollars. Run, don't walk. oakapple
I recognize a few of those items. They were on the menu already.
Nathan
they've been offering that bar menu for six months.
oakapple
they've been offering that bar menu for six months. I think it's an expanded version of what they had before.
Wilfrid1
Publicists are currently going through a phase of dressing up old news as new. At Vermilion has opened several times already.

Orik
Imagine how much money they'd have saved if they closed when I suggested they should.
Lex
I did see this coming. A general thought. This place seems to have a high novelty quotient. All well and good - they'll attract the people who value novelty. I do wonder what will happen when the novelty wears off. Are people going to keep coming back after their 3rd visit or are they going to move on the the Next Big Thing? And once the novelty crowd moves on, are there enough mainstream folks around who will stretch their tolerance for the exotic to keep this place in business?
Orik
Once Nathan joined the army, they were doomed.
AaronS
I'm surprised that the bar business is not enough to keep them open. Without gloating or wishing anyone ill I do have to say that the fact that this place is closing and WD-50 is not strange to me.
