I surreptitiously took pictures, which is frowned upon. Not only there, either.
mongo
this photograph of a very tranquil sistine chapel was taken just a few seconds before the guy at left-front told me photography was prohibited. i didn't bother saying i was photographing the crowd, not the ceiling. my favourite part of the experience was that they periodically, very loudly, over a microphone, call for silence. Monday, son had to drive two sprogs 3 hours to camp (SF to Pollock Pines), and return by 3pm to take third kid to debate camp in Palo Alto (blazer, pencil skirt, collared shirt required). Summer fun parenting two age groups.

StephanieL
Got ripped off big time by a taxi driver in Vienna, just going from the main train station to our hotel (which was not all that far from the station). Not thinking clearly or I would have seen the scam right away. (N didn't spot it either.) 1
Wilfrid
I hate fireworks so much. I hated them as a child. I still do. Nothing against this holiday. Growing up they celebrated a horrific execution, Guy Fawkes, but I also remember the endless stories of awful burns and injuries suffered by small explosives being triggered in small social spaces. Will be putting the headphones on soon for the rest of the ghastly night.

StephanieL
I like fireworks when I'm at a sanctioned event. I hate them when they're being shot off in my neighborhood, where the houses are all close together. I really hate the ones that are just huge booms, big enough to shake the house.
