The airline flights reductions.

Alabama Basketball played St. John's yesterday at MSG. We had to shift our charter into/out of HPN instead of EWR to be able to fly. Arrived early afternoon Friday. Yesterday's departure back to Tuscaloosa was set for 3:45 pm. I got lucky when one of our donors had an extra seat on his plane. We made it back to Tuscaloosa and went straight to the football game against LSU--only missing the first 5 minutes of the game.

The team was not so lucky. They boarded around 3:30. And were kept on the plane. Wheels up at 8:15 ET. And arrived around 9:45 CT. Long day. Thank goodness we pulled off the upset!

Oddly enough my flights back to LAS today went off as scheduled. But, I fly back on Wednesday. But judging from what I am seeing, it's going to be a long day (or two). And likely the same scenario for the return barrng a miracle.

I broke the first rule of repair: make sure you have all of the tools you need before you start taking something apart.  My main coffee grinder is still in pieces because at the last step I realized I didn't have this particular box wrench.

I have an Achilles tendon problem and guess what? My beautiful and amazing podriatrist is not open because she went and had a baby (I knew she wanted to). But what about the Hippocratic oath?

I suppose there may be, huh, other doctors.

I feel you. My hand surgeon went and procreated also, and now my fucking wrist is fucking killing me. Come back, Jaydie! I need to get stuck.

I have/had a great hand doctor.

Actually, I have two.

Mark Pruzansky...https://handsurgeonsnyc.com/dr-mark-pruzansky/ (Also, generally has individually wrapped chuckles at the office counter).

Steven Lee...https://www.hss.edu/profiles/doctors/steve-lee.

Achilles docs are a dime a dozen.

his time management is shit, and there are too many doctors in the sea for me to wait an hour past my appointment time.

Pretty sure this happens a lot - though Pruzansky's practice is his own office, so never as bad as at NYU, Sinai, HSS, et al.

Only thing I try to do is get one of the first appointments of the day.

It does, and I "curate" my doctors to avoid it. I was sent to a pulmonologist once who literally had three patients scheduled for every 10:00 block of time. I did not return to him.

NYU is usually very efficient, NY Presbyterian less so. And that's where I'm going today, alas.

My general physician must be on the brink of retirement. He's downsized his practice and he's probably older than me.

My beautiful podiatrist is youthful, on the other hand. She just needs to limit this motherhood lark.

I have a wonderful primary care doctor. He got bumped way up in the St. Luke's system about 3 years ago and is now Chief Medical Officer or something like that, so only sees patients 1 1/2 days a week now. BUT, he doesn't take on new patients and since it was initially difficult to get an appointment with him, many of his patients switched to a different doctor. If I send a message  to him through the St. Luke's system, he will even answer on a Sunday. He calls. He is wonderful. But he is not a Spring chicken. Every time I see a St. Luke's envelope in the mail, I cringe and think it will be notice that he is retiring. (His wife is also a physician, but she retired about 10 years ago.)

We had it yesterday and then about 1/4 inch of snow overnight. But wicked cold. Only 13 right now and not expected to get any warmer despite some sun. Tonight and tomorrow morning will be worse. Single digits. How the heck did I ever live in Boston and walk all over the city? Of course, I was 40+ years younger then.

I have lower back pain every day.  And that’s after disc surgery and fusion like 5 years ago, which did cure leg pain.  Then like 2 years ago I had an epidural which worked great for like 6 - 8 months.  Now we just try to get to the gym 4 or 5 times a week, which helps.

Gearing up for one of those myself. Plus a steroid shot to the wrist so I can work a scissor without dying.

I just need to say that Creedmoor overlooks Alley Pond Park not Cunningham Park

Creedmoor - the perfect insane asylum, in some people's opinion!

Then again, if one doesn't know the difference between Greenland and Iceland, what's a few miles in Queens?

This time of year serves as a reminder of how great it is to eat long and slow-cooked stews and braises. And what a pain in the ass it is to continually clean casseroles and crockpots.

Long rant summarized as thus: we have to get our driveway repaired or replaced, our garden entirely cleaned up, and hand railings added to our back staircase or our home insurance folks will cancel our policy by the end of the month.  (We found out about this last week, so we have been making headway.)
