The cakes ended up being a little overdone--the tops got pretty hard--but they tasted good and folks at the potluck really liked the one I brought.  The other cake broke majorly as I took it out of the pan, so it's now in the freezer and N has plans to turn it into trifle with custard, canned peaches, and either brandy or peach liqueur.

Email today from a museum inviting me to renew my membership early at a favorable rate. Thanks. I was never a member and probably visited once in the last 20 years. To be fair, I then got a follow-up email apologizing for the screw up. Awaiting the next email asking if I would nevertheless like to become a member.

Then the email asking me to take a survey about my experience.

Please use the cutting guard or a no-cut glove! Both are a little cumbersome, but beat the alternative. Sorry. Hope you heal quickly. Keep it clean and dry!

I did, and things slipped.  One of those weird accidents.  At least it's healing up well.

Reminds me I haven't used my mandoline in a long time. First time I didn't bother with the cutting guard. Ouch. Always used it since.

Walking in a suburb (obviously a mistake) and this small, angry dog started jumping at a garden fence and barking.

So what? Then I realised the owner had left the gate open. Sharp teeth. Don't think he broke skin but I will have to take my sock off later.

Ai! I hope you noted the dog's address, in case you need shots. A nasty little poodle (is there any other kind?) bit me on the hip, completely unprovoked, and in my own building's elevator. I made sure to get the owner's contact info.

I have the security camera footage, and sometimes I watch it. Here I am, getting bitten on the hip by an ornery poodle. 🤣

There's a dog in our building who bit my husband as well as other people. The owners refuse to do anything about it.

Well the victims could sue the dog owners and possibly the building owners. Suit might cause the building management to make the owners take the dog away.
