maison rustique
I asked so many questions at the Meet & Greet that the doctor quietly came over to me and gave me her personal cell phone number so I could text with her. I was the only family/caregiver present. The other attendees were from assisted living. This entire thing is being terribly mis-managed. They couldn't even answer basic questions about insurance, how to contact them, etc. And yet, officially they start tomorrow. The doctor said she will arrange to come in and meet with my husband and me on Friday prior to my signing him up with them. (Although it doesn't sound like there will be much choice in choosing them or not, as eventually the existing physicians will be leaving.) hollywood
Covid--after time and Benzonatate--has coughed it's way out the door. Yay!
maison rustique
OK, I am over this extreme heat. Supposed to be 101 F today. Lord only knows what the heat index will be. I will be boiled alive by the time it is August at the rate it is going. </whine>
Wilfrid
Woke up cold and had to fumble for the comforter. We had dropped 20 degrees overnight.

small h
My friend's kitchen was 113 degrees, and she wasn't even cooking.
Wilfrid
I swear I have bought plastic bottles of Bertolli olive oil before. This one I couldn’t open; I couldn’t even see how it opened. I went on YouTube and found a video showing how to open it (not just me apparently). The concept was clear but I still had to pinch it in a door to get enough traction. Then today I picked up a pack of sandwich meat. “Peel here,” it said. It should have said “Peel here if you have the strength of ten lions.”
small h
I got very stabby with a pill bottle this morning, can relate.
Wilfrid
Stabby. If I get too much resistance from something I pull out the very large, very sharp, very expensive Japanese chef knife. I take my life in my hands, but that knife always wins. I do not have a samurai sword. Yet.
Sneakeater
I have this jar of Polish pickles that I absolutely can't open, no matter what tools I use. I'm beginning to wonder if the lids in Poland rotate in the opposite direction to ours.
Wilfrid
Mm, I’ve had those where you just give up and throw it away. After all, breaking the glass isn’t going to get you anywhere.

I was able to instruct my pharmacy to replace all the child (and elderly)-proof caps on the medicine bottles they dispense to me with easy-off caps. (I had to promise there were no children and maybe pets in my apartment.) Maybe you can, too. Edited June 28, 2024 by Sneakeater

There isn’t anything one can do about OTC bottles with child-proof caps like Tylenol, etc. What I do with those is once I open them, I put the cap back and turn it just enough so the pills won’t spill out but no so it is completely closed. As for our prescription meds, we get them via the mail from Express Scripts. I requested they only put regular screw caps on my meds. I also have that notation at my local pharmacy in the event I bring them a prescription. Edited to add: I saw @Sneakeater’s post after I posted mine. Great minds, etc… Edited June 28, 2024 by rozrapp

I can't operate those silly little childproof locks on bags of Tide Pods, but I discovered you can just pull the bag open if you try hard enough. cinghiale
I’ve had luck rolling the jar back and forth on the floor with my foot. It seems to help loosen the seal.
