Orik
I’m not liking how long Mitchell’s Soul Food is staying closed following a “gas main break”. The gas line apocalypse is an under reported story. If that's really the reason then they can be closed for six months to forever.
AaronS
apparently that’s what’s keeping the gowanus finback from opening.
Steve R.
North Fork Table & Inn. Haven’t been in quite a few years, but remember several really good meals. Or not. Just got an e-mail from them saying they’ll reopen in the spring.

johannabanana
North Fork Table & Inn. Haven’t been in quite a few years, but remember several really good meals. We spent some time in the North Fork this summer. Didn't eat at the inn but went to their mostly excellent food truck many times to eat in the garden. Claudia Fleming was always around, often manning the truck. Her oatmeal cookies were divine. Sad that she's selling up.

Tubbs
I ate there last week! It was empty at lunch.
Wilfrid
Taste of Persia to close at end of month: the pizzeria in which it lodges has new owners. Quirky operation, but the food was consistently excellent.
StephanieL
It was my first exposure to Persian food. I hope it finds a permanent home somewhere. I also just read on Eater that Cleopatra's Needle, the Egyptian restaurant/jazz club on the UWS, closed after 30 years.
Sneakeater
Wasn't there some interregnum where a new owner rearranged letters in the front sign so it was then called "At Our Place"?
Seth Gordon
They'd had a sign up for awhile that they were "temporarily" closed for renovations, but now the Oriental Garden website says it's permanent. Fuleen on Division has had a "closed for renovations" sign up for awhile as well. Hmm...
Wilfrid
Is there a resurrection pool thread, because there's a sign in Farinella's window saying it will re-open soon "by popular demand"?

The Flon
The Forlini's news breaks my heart but the payout for the owners should be terrific: https://ny.eater.com/2020/1/6/21051771/forlinis-closing-little-italy-nyc I still go there about once a month to at least bend an elbow at the bar. Food is better than it needs to be for that place. EXCELLENT red sauce service.
