And Morimoto goes down... no surprise there. His heyday has long since passed, no way his name could keep filling a space that size. Last time I popped in (three years ago?) it was half-empty.

I will only remember Morimoto for the most bizarre coincidence I had there. I was meeting a broker who I had never met in person. I asked a woman walking in who appeared the same age/expected attire of my broker if she was her. It was not. However, it WAS her former best friend who she hadn't spoken to in years. Creepy.

I'll miss working for my sashimi puree with its little spade. But the Calpico/yuzu White Lily was a Xeno's paradox, its shochu halved each year. My in-laws liked the friendly menu. I guess we'll all go next to EN Japanese Brasserie, and kill that too.

Maybe EN will be worth saving - appears  Chef Abe Hiroki is dunzo (or maybe ousted, I dunno) - new chef is Akiko Thurnauer, who used to have that cute place Family Recipe on Eldridge. Very different, not the sort of chef I'd have expected them to pick up. Whether she's just overseeing the same old same old for them or actually remaking the menu, no idea.
