bloviatrix
Jane, the baby sweaters are adorable. I particularly like the yellow and white one in the upper left corner.
foodie52
I hope that baby clothing is the way to go. They work on a number of levels. First, they are quick to make, so the girls who are learning get some instant gratification. I hope that is motivating. Second, I hope that finding buyers for them won't be too hard. And third, most of the yarn is acrylic, and baby clothes need to go through the washing machine more often than not. I have to find ways to sell this stuff next. And fourth, people often will spend money on cute clothes that they don't really need for baby more easily than they will on cute clothes that they don't really need for themselves. Especially grandmommies. Like me. As soon as you figure out how to display and sell them, I'll definitely buy some. On another note - October is rapidly approaching. Are you having an auction this year?
foodie52
Thanks, Jaymes! Yes, another ebay auction this year. I am collecting donations. If anyone has any gift certificates to donate, that would be awesome. I have a lot of gorgeous knitted items as well, from all over the USA. A few donations from some well known knitters (esoteric, I know...but meaningful to some of us!). I am hoping for donations of restaurant gift certificates, etc. We made $3000 last year and I would like to match that. We're having a destash yarn sale in September, benefiting FOCO. It'll be at my local yarn store. I am getting LOTS of donated yarn for that! Hey: if any of you shop and come across any cute sales tags, can you take photos and send them to me or post them here? I have to create tags to attach to our garments. One side will have the FOCO logo on it and our website address. I guess the other side will have a little bit about us. I need to get those made SOON, both in English and in Spanish. Or both languages on the tag? I'm not good at this kind of thing. Help.
foodie52
You can watch new videos on Facebook (Friends of Colombian Orphans group page) or by going to Youtube and finding them under "foodie52".If anyone here can make them appear as posts, I would be grateful. I've given up for now.

prasantrin
OK. I figured it out. Usually you can just copy and paste the URL from your address bar, but for some reason that's not working. But under the video, click on "Share" and then copy the URL that pops up. Then when posting to MFF, click on the Media button (rightmost button under the font selection) and paste in the full URL. You might be able to just type everything in without using the "media" button (type your URL in between "media" and "/media" enclosed in [ ] (can't type them properly with no URL in between because it screws up the post) and have that work, too.. Let me check (if you see a video below, it worked, if not. . . ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sECyeOZ0cPo
prasantrin
I just wanted to add one more, because s/he's terribly cute! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjPAJLsAhr4
foodie52
Thank you SO much. I'll try it again in a while, after I calm down! The baby's name is Valentina. She is the daughter of one of our new student knitters (Carmen). She is sleeping in our newest knitting machine box. Now we have FOUR machines, a larger room, and students mornings and afternoons. Now I have to figure how to get these garments up to the USA.
foodie52
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYyQnN8ThT8 Still not working for me. I wonder if it's some program I don't have.By the way, MFF is telling me also that I am not allowed to use the image extension on this board. OK: edited...let's see... prasantrin
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYyQnN8ThT8 Still not working for me. I wonder if it's some program I don't have.By the way, MFF is telling me also that I am not allowed to use the image extension on this board. You have an extra http:// in there. When you click "media", there's already "http://" in the box, so you can either just paste the part from www.etc or you can delete the http:// already in the box, and paste the entire copied URL. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but that's what you do. (the http:// already in the box is usually highlighted, so just click ctrl+v if you're using windows, and your URL will paste in and the original http:// in the box will be deleted automatically. That might not make sense, either, but i hope you can figure out something that works for you!) Sounds like the program is really expanding. Great news!
foodie52
We made $535 yesterday at our yarn destash sale. That's two months' worth of knitting instruction, and more than half a machine. Next up: Ebay/Missionfish auction of knitted items and goodies that John brought back from Colombia. If you have anything to donate for this auction , please let me know. It'll take place in late October, I hope.
Jaymes
Jane, I brought back five of those canes for you the last time I visited Mexico. I am coming up to Austin the weekend of the 16th of October, and can bring them then if that's okay. It will save me considerable postage. Will that be soon enough?
