StephanieL
Yesterday, it was leftover chicken & basmati rice from the food cart near my apartment. Today it'll probably be something from 'wichcraft.
Cathy
Cato Corner cheeses - Hooligan, Misty Morning and Womanchego - and a baguette filched from our bakery.
Vanessa
A wedge of Sfincioni di San Vito from Marcella Hazan, baked yesterday. Strikes me as being grammatically quite wrong, but that's what she calls it. A double-crust pizza with filling of minced beef, onion, ham, caciocavallo, ricotta. Strangely, nothing like the San Vito filling in an Italian book on Sicilian cooking, from the very historically authentic-seeming Newton & Compton series, which is all cheese, anchovies and breadcrumbs. v
Guest johnboy
Left-over chicken and egg fried rice that David made the other day and a hunk of chocolate cake that I supposedly brought in for the other people at work to eat (hey they'll get some of it, but I wanted to try a bit too!) Vanessa
Admittedly a bit early for lunch, but it makes me feel better: gibanica - just as stupendous at room temperature. v
fantasty
The cart on the SE corner of 46th and 3rd*, Anwar's, just keeps getting better and better. Today, for $3 (!!!) a nice rice and lentil pilaf served under marinated Halal chicken, diced and grilled with chopped chard, carrots, and cabbage. Lots of hot sauce and some mysterious "white sauce" (seasoned yogurt?) rounded it out. It's addictive. Washed down with Ronnybrook's Creamline chocolate milk (also addictive). *No more singing bank promoters (see "Surrealism of Everyday Life" thread).
Vanessa
Foie gras (jarred entier de canard) bought from the poncy jumble sale going on downstairs, of an appropriately inferior quality, with a roll nicked from a dining facility. v
Lippy
Four slices of soppressata, a few curls of parmagiano-reggiano, achieved with a cheese plane, two pieces of Axler's herring in cream and a bundh of grapes, while some chicken stock is simmering in the background. Liza
Delish, Lippy. On a baking jig so a slice of pumpkin cheesecake and one of ginger cake, just to even out the edges of course of course.
Wilfrid1
Today, for $3 (!!!) a nice rice and lentil pilaf served under marinated Halal chicken, diced and grilled with chopped chard, carrots, and cabbage. Lots of hot sauce and some mysterious "white sauce" (seasoned yogurt?) rounded it out. It's addictive. Certainly a good way to stretch three dollars. The white sauce tasted faintly like coconut to me, but I may be coming down with something. Thanks for the tip.
Lippy
but I may be coming down with something. Oh, no!
Vanessa
The leftover green fish curry, cold. Still totally delicious. v
Liza
Leftover wild boar burritos, and a mere bagatelle of brownie. Licked the spatula for breakfast.
Vanessa
The all-carb diet today Just coffee for breakfast, then nibbling the Indian sweetmeat all morning, and now a croissant for lunch. v
