i'm also looking at Waring Mega Pro - it's 1 horsepower vs Vita-Mix 2 but it's twice cheaper, and does come in stainless steel..

Now how about Magimix? If it's good i'm ready to dump various KAs and Cuisinarts i have...

The Vita-Mix is pretty commercial-looking. Not terribly ugly, but not especially glamorous either. I love mine. Built like a battleship, does a great job making purées, etc.

I will also recommend the Vita-mix. It just does a better job from experience of using one in a restaurant application. Better than a Kitchenaid, I have one of those now and it is okay but could be better. I have also used the waring, great as a bar blender.
