Depressing Stuff

I don’t think I ever mentioned my stroke, a few years ago. I was not hospitalized, but the truly weird thing is that it made me realize I had had a stroke several months earlier while actually dining at Del Posto. Oh, that’s what those weird symptoms were.

IMHO he is getting superb attention and treatment.

That's good to know, and I wish him a speedy as-much-recovery-as-possible and you strength and imminent good news.

Do not go gentle and all that.

That is my one concern.    He just called and sounded orders of magnitude better, mentally as well as physically.  He had actually walked today, was sitting up, seeing possibilities, unbelievable only this morning.

@voyager Glad to hear your husband is in good hands. The amazing thing about stroke recovery is how quickly the brain is and can create new pathways. I hope they can get him stabilized in order to get him into rehab and you can get him into a good place.

Also sending you hugs - I know how stressful it is as the caretaker and spouse. I still find myself on edge and my husband is a little less than 3 years past his.

Well, there's some good news! Let's hope it continues!

His major barrier now is attitude/will.    He seems to be more depressed in the morning, and I'm hoping that is the case today. He confessed he had tiff with his team of doctors this morning.   "Over what?"   Pause..."End of life."    I asked if he would like me to bring him some of his chocolate stash, and got an enthusiastic response.    He has told me to stay away because he has been exposed to covid in hospital, and I have had a cold with fever, but my fever has been down for 36 hours and I'm going over, with chocolates.

You've had 2 strokes??  Oy.  Please look out for yourself--we don't want to lose you this soon!

It's a problem.  For all their talk about honoring my wishes, my doctors are much less sanguine about the end of my life than I am.

Just be sure to take care of yourself. You winding up in the hospital, too, would not be a good thing.
