Wilfrid
I don’t think I ever mentioned my stroke, a few years ago. I was not hospitalized, but the truly weird thing is that it made me realize I had had a stroke several months earlier while actually dining at Del Posto. Oh, that’s what those weird symptoms were.

That's good to know, and I wish him a speedy as-much-recovery-as-possible and you strength and imminent good news.
Evelyn
Prayers up for you both. The medical care in LV leaves lots to be desired. I am glad you have access to excellent care and doctors.

Sneakeater
OTOH, that your husband is "there" enough to rail against limitations and restrictions seems to me to be an unalloyed good.
Sneakeater
It's when he becomes docile that you'll have to worry!

He just called and sounded orders of magnitude better, mentally as well as physically. rozrapp
@voyager Sorry to hear about your husband’s stroke. Glad he’s getting first-rate medical care. Your latest post sounds as though he is already improving. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
bloviatrix
@voyager Glad to hear your husband is in good hands. The amazing thing about stroke recovery is how quickly the brain is and can create new pathways. I hope they can get him stabilized in order to get him into rehab and you can get him into a good place. Also sending you hugs - I know how stressful it is as the caretaker and spouse. I still find myself on edge and my husband is a little less than 3 years past his.

maison rustique
@voyager Positive, healing energy for your husband and bushels of strength for you both. I have family who work with brain/stroke impairments and there are miraculous recoveries. It sounds like he is on his way.
Sneakeater
Don't tell him, but I almost wish my brother's recovery from a recent stroke weren't quite so complete. I liked him when he was docile. Edited July 11 by Sneakeater
voyager
His major barrier now is attitude/will. He seems to be more depressed in the morning, and I'm hoping that is the case today. He confessed he had tiff with his team of doctors this morning. "Over what?" Pause..."End of life." I asked if he would like me to bring him some of his chocolate stash, and got an enthusiastic response. He has told me to stay away because he has been exposed to covid in hospital, and I have had a cold with fever, but my fever has been down for 36 hours and I'm going over, with chocolates.

Wilfrid
It must be nine or ten years ago. I was neglecting medication and learned my lesson. Also I am about 50lbs lighter which I assume is a good thing.

It's a problem. For all their talk about honoring my wishes, my doctors are much less sanguine about the end of my life than I am.

Just be sure to take care of yourself. You winding up in the hospital, too, would not be a good thing.
