Peter,

It appears this one is very serious! I heard a report today from the National Weather Service stating those who stay in this storms path will certainly face death. Very chilling and strong words.

Do take care and be safe.

Now there's cheerful! Better have another bottle to bolster your reserves.

I'm assuming they mean those people right on the coast. But I guess another bottle certainly can't hurt.

Further research shows that the NHC issued warnings of 'facing certain death' for owners of coastal properties of 2 storeys or fewer.

That warning was issued specifically to residents of Galveston Island. It wasn't a general warning. Check a map to see the geography of that region.

I'm reading this morning that the storm surge was "only" half of what had been predicted & feared. That's the good news.

Hope you're OK Peter & anyone else we know down there.
