We have threads for annoyances and what made us cheerful, but then there's those weird things that happen.....   My workplace is particularly fertile ground for the surreal. 2 current examples:

Yeah, me too.   As soon as I'm a real member, I'll upload a real avatar.   Or did you mean my sig?

You talkin' to me?

In a television ad for Lunesta (a sleep medication), one of the "side effects" may include drowsiness.

Oh, o-k-a-a-a-a-a-ay.

Is that the one where they tell you to already be lying down when you take the pill? Gotta get me some of that stuff.

I had one of those mundane surreal experiences yesterday: thought of a high school friend I hadn't seen or heard from in many years, and then I got a Christmas card from her. I have no idea how she got my address.

A local woman who is under investigation in connection with several suspicious fires (including the one that destroyed her own house) is apparently possessed of a robust entrepreneurial spirit. She has started her own business – selling bundled kindling.

Several evenings ago, fiercely cold in the street, I am warming myself in The Old Town Bar when a group from the land of my birth walks in. Most are reasonably dressed, and those nearest to me have South East accents. One, however, out of my earshot, was wearing no more than a tee-shirt and jeans. And shoes, I expect.

I knew immediately that he was not from the South East but from a city in a different region. Eavesdropping confirmed my guess.

I think any MFer of UK origin will guess that English city in one.
