StephanieL
The random availability or non-availability of grocery store items. Yesterday, I picked up literally the last box of cornstarch in my large suburban supermarket (and the house brand, not even Argo).

small h
I'm not much of a purist, ordinarily, but this is a bridge too far. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/14/dining/homemade-pizza-french-bread.html Unless the NYT has decided to dive into Semi-Homemade territory with a vengeance. OK, I actually liked (and still occasionally get) Stouffer's French Bread pizza. It's it's own thing.
small h
Me too! But I don't need a recipe for it. The point of frozen food is that you don't have to do anything but heat it up.

I think they might've served this at lunch once a week - when I was in grade school.
rozrapp
When our daughter was a kid, I bought Stouffer’s French Bread Pizza for her. That was around 40 years ago. Michael and I never ate it.
small h
It was one of the choices when my parents went out and left my sister and me to our own devices. I also ate a lot of frozen steak and kidney pie in puff pastry, which came in a maroon and white tin.

small h
I had some fancy taste as a kid. My afternoon snack after softball practice was an artichoke with blender hollandaise. And I once got in a lot of trouble for plowing through a couple of tins of smoked oysters while my parents were out, because those are for company.
prasantrin
I once brought Portuguese tinned sardines in olive oil and chile with saltine crackers for recess when I was maybe in kindergarten or 1st grade. I got made fun of, and never did it again. Fortunately, that experience did not stop me from loving them, and I still have them. If only I could find some really good ones. Similarly, my mom would send me with either sardines, kippers, or herring when I was in first grade and like you I got made fun of. On flip side, when I was in high school my mom would send me with the components to make my own sable sandwiches (because god forbid the roll would get get soggy if she made the sandwich in the morning) and most of my friends were envious.
