We have threads for annoyances and what made us cheerful, but then there's those weird things that happen.....   My workplace is particularly fertile ground for the surreal. 2 current examples:

Yeah, me too.   As soon as I'm a real member, I'll upload a real avatar.   Or did you mean my sig?

You talkin' to me?

The random availability or non-availability of grocery store items.  Yesterday, I picked up literally the last box of cornstarch in my large suburban supermarket (and the house brand, not even Argo).

I'm not much of a purist, ordinarily, but this is a bridge too far.

Unless the NYT has decided to dive into Semi-Homemade territory with a vengeance.

OK, I actually liked (and still occasionally get) Stouffer's French Bread pizza.  It's it's own thing.

It was one of the choices when my parents went out and left my sister and me to our own devices. I also ate a lot of frozen steak and kidney pie in puff pastry, which came in a maroon and white tin.

I once brought Portuguese tinned sardines in olive oil and chile with saltine crackers for recess when I was maybe in kindergarten or 1st grade. I got made fun of, and never did it again.

Fortunately, that experience did not stop me from loving them, and I still have them. If only I could find some really good ones.

Similarly, my mom would send me with either sardines, kippers, or herring when I was in first grade and like you I got made fun of. On flip side, when I was in high school my mom would send me with the components to make my own sable sandwiches (because god forbid the roll would get get soggy if she made the sandwich in the morning) and most of my friends were envious.
