The sake was called Lady Luck, but that’s not why I thought it was the best. One of the other students in the class referred to it as stale 7-Up. I like stale 7-up! prasantrin
I had never heard of zima, but having read about it, I think I would have liked it! I remember my mom letting me have baby duck when I was a kid, so it's been around since the 70s, but it kind of tells you how bad Canadian wine was back then. It's pretty bad to most people, but I liked sweet alcohol when I was a kid (dubonnet and Kahlua were the other 2 alcoholic beverages I remember being allowed to drink). Wilfrid
I was hoping to post this in "What are you watching?" but you'll see why not. I love everything directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. His 2021 Drive My Car has been in city cinemas recently, but it also just started streaming on HBO Max. It was going to be the center piece of last night's entertainment. Start watching. No subtitles. Now I've picked up a handful of Japanese phrases from watching months of Ozu, but I can't do a two hour movie with no subtitles. How to enable subtitles? Took a while, but I eventually clicked on a dialog box that allowed me to enable the subtitles. Could find no way to save the change or get back to the movie. All I could do from that screen was close out of the app, and no that didn't save the changes. Try several times. Call HBO Max. Short hold time. Went through the procedure again with someone on the phone following along. Eventually discovered the button on the remote that saved the changes. I should probably have guessed. Try to watch the movie again. Now I have a loud, barking robot voice telling me what I am doing. "Movie paused." "Movie rewound." "Movie playing." Totally distracting. Call HBO Max. Try a whole bunch of fixes with someone on the phone following along. No luck. Very helpful person, but nothing resolved; she asks me to hold while she contacts a 'specialist.' While I'm holding, I think, let's see if it's just HBO Max. No, the robot is everywhere. She comes back on the line and I confess it's not an HBO Max problem. Must be a Roku problem. This inspires her to more suggestions and together we happen on something called Screen Reader. Changing the settings on that kills the robot. By this time, I have spent an hour on this and have no desire to watch the movie. Streaming is great, isn't it?

Tubbs
75 miles. Though at least initial day is on zoom (unless they drop that by then) and only about 25% chance of getting chosen. Still....yuck.
StephanieL
Ran over or into something hard enough to puncture my tire right by the hubcap. This comes a few months after another encounter with something leading to a flat. At this rate, I'll never have to worry about my tires going bald, because I don't seem to be able to keep them long enough for the treads to wear down.
