SethG
Have you heard the Bon Jovi version of "Hallelujah," Dr. Jones? (Yes, there is one. Check youtube.)
mongo_jones
that's really quite good--thanks. bon jovi's always been a good singer, just one with very bad taste when it comes to his own music. ZMRPfCRV2xI
SethG
Are you serious? I thought it was sincere and not in terrible taste, but I'd rather hear the Buckley or Cohen versions.
mongo_jones
i think he sings it well, and does a good job of turning it into a stadium rock ballad (i.e, makes it his own).
rancho_gordo
I think he has a weird pretend-rock voice. I don't care for it at all. I've always liked Leonard Cohen and I've tried, in my way, to be free. People used to rave about the Jennifer Warren (Warner) album of covers but I thought it was pretty nothing, especially compared to the real thing.
Rebecca
i think that was on the "pump up the volume" soundtrack. Yep. My copy is all worn out. Video, too.

mongo_jones
warnes manages to live down to the terrible synth-pop arrangement of the original. cohen's sardonic delivery, however, transcends it. tFBKV0zVXSE

g.johnson
I know I'm hopelessly behind the times but I recently bought Arctic Monkey's Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and am thoroughly enjoying it. I do enjoy a good regional English accent and the lyrics are really very good.

TheMatt
A lot of Patsy Cline. Amazon had a "Best of" album on sale for $2 yesterday, so I jumped on that. Huh...they still do. Must have proved popular. Today's special is Bill Cosby's Himself, and it's tempting me.

omnivorette
The best Jennifer Warnes recording is this one, although it's the damn movie soundtrack so there's dialogue over it. 3qilQ_gfm3w
