Wilfrid
A nice case of frequency illusion. Sitting in a bar, the music is a sufficiently unusual sample of guitar rock that I Shazammed it. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, a name I think I would have remembered if I’d seen it before. Aussie experimentalists. Then opened this week’s “Talk of the Town,” and there they are because they’re touring here.
Sneakeater
I saw them several years ago and liked them enough that I got some of their albums. I don't know why, but I assumed they were from Texas or something. But then, at first I didn't realize The Hinds were Spanish.

Wilfrid
Piri & Tommy, frog.mp3 Lots of pop fun over frantic beats.
Wilfrid
Carlotta engaged with me on IG. Obviously I am delighted, but what next, the rhythm section? Come on Ana! @hindsband
Wilfrid
Standing on the Corner, Red Burns Earl Sweatshirt, Some Rap Songs
Wilfrid
Piri and Tommy froge.mp3 Much fun. Burial, Antidawn and Streetlands, his two 2022 releases which confirm the long drift away from any beats and places him somewhere near Harold Budd, and good for him. Hinds, I Don’t Run. Wilfrid
Hinds, Leave Me Alone
Wilfrid
A few days at home with nothing to do except cook and clean, I am besieged by earworms. Obviously Hinds, "I've Been Riding Solo," and very much anything by Piri & Tommy - "Beachin," "Soft Spot," etc -but also "Wannabe" thanks to that very good New Yorker piece. I am pottering around the apartment and my head suddenly goes "Yo!..."
Wilfrid
Against all odds, I retain faith in my judgment. Hinds are heavily promoting merchandise featuring the slogan “I’m on a Hinds way to hell.” No. Not an AC/DC fan. Not a fan of that slogan. I would buy a Hinds t-shirt if it was about Hinds. Honestly, Ana would have to DM a lot before I would buy that.
Wilfrid
Hinds will release a new song this week. I will let everyone know if it’s any good but the smart money says yes.
Wilfrid
Possibly rename this thread Today I Played Hinds?
Wilfrid
If you feel a kind of global expectant hush right now it's because Hinds are dropping a new song in about half an hour. ETA: With Bratty
Sneakeater
For like 20 years, I've been avoiding the Rod Stewart American Songbook albums. Finally, I dove in, with the best will in the world. You can kind of see a way in which this concept could work. It doesn't.
Sneakeater
By the time he made these records, Rod had no soul left. Not even a shadow of a hint of a soul. You could argue that that's appropriate for the American Songbook. But then I'd have to kill you (along with the Capitalists).
