I just got the style guide for something I'm editing, and this is Rule #10: We do not use the Oxford comma. If a sentence cannot be understood without the Oxford comma, then rewrite the sentence to make it better. 1 Quote
small h Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I would, but then I wouldn't get paid. Instead, I will just ignore the style guide and do whatever I want, comma- and otherwise. Quote
Wilfrid Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Right. In theory we don’t have the Oxford comma, but jeez I know how to write leave me alone. Quote

Wilfrid Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Oh I have some stories about Farrell’s. I wish Lex was here so I could continue ribbing him about never going there. And the much missed Nick Gatti who knew the bars on that strip like the back of his hand. For better or worse. 1 Quote

backyardchef Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 There was a Farrell's in Windsor Terrace and one on Staten Island in the mall, too. It was where kids had their ice cream and candy birthday parties..... Quote
Wilfrid Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I have only known the Windsor Terrace one. Not obviously a place for kids. Quote

StephanieL Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 (edited) I grew up near Great Adventure amusement park in NJ. I had no idea until just now that it was conceived and designed by Warner LeRoy, who created The Russian Tea Room and Tavern on the Green. Edited August 12, 2024 by StephanieL Quote
