g.johnson
I've seen several of his films, probably a lot of them, I recall almost nothing about them. Probably because they are more issue oriented than plot based. I don't remember anything about a single Fassbinder I saw and I've seen a lot of those too. I remember, ahem, significant parts in them. Or maybe you've seen so many films that your mental DVR has been forced to dump some from its crowded memory.

Yeah, the entire foreign film sections at Video Active in Silver Lake and that other place on Vermont or Hilhurst (I think it shut down or moved) are big blurs. So, what do you think about Herzog? Suzanne F
Wasn't there a slightly creepy movie about a girl's knee? ETA: Oh yes, Pauline à la plage was another one. Claire's Knee. That was the movie that inspired me to go to Annecy on my first trip to Europe in 1971. Sigh. Yes, his movies were pretty much nothing but talk, but I loved them. RIP. The difficulty with him is remembering which parts go with which films, particularly in light of his frequent use of the same actors. And with both directors, it may have been some time since you viewed the pictures. It has been a very long time. Mostly I remember his visual style, now that I think about it. H. du Bois
I'm sorry he's dead, but I'm no fan of his work. Because he was so well-regarded I watched a few of them anyway, thinking maybe the problem was me. I now think that maybe the problem was the films.
