Well, the great thing about Brooklyn is that it's a far better place to live than Manhattan. And now we don't have to commute to Manhattan in order to eat food that isn't red sauce Italian or pink ta

Put those goal posts back.     I am not talking about bars which are good, not that good, and bad. I am talking about bars with extensive beer lists*, even if the bar is a dump. I have a dol

Hey, I'm a New York food blogger. I'd like to come in for dinner and take photos of your food for my blog.

That should work, right?

There are a number of blog reports with photos, easily googled, so apparently they don't mind -- once you've gotten in.

I just sent an email to that address, sans mention of my bloggerhood. We shall see if it works.

Where would anyone find the email?

(I am not saying this negates it, I am just curious now.)

On their website. http://playearth.jp/

You're joking, right?

No. I'm not saying he'll score a 9:30 reservation, but earlier tables are easy. Even The Post made it:

I am leaning toward Orik's explanation, viz., that they are imposing an artificial barrier merely to keep the tourists out, but that it is actually not that difficult to gain admission. I sent an email to the address on the website, and in under two hours received a reply with the "secret" phone number, inviting me to make a reservation.

I hate these hoops. It's supposed to be a hospitality industry.

Oh, I'm not defending them. I am just pointing out that it is not a private club, as some websites have claimed.

Among the many ways that restaurants ration limited supply, I am not really sure which is the most admirable. RedFarm doesn't take reservations and has twice quoted me a 45-60 minute wait, at around 6pm on a weeknight. In the end, I'll probably expend less than an hour's worth of time getting a reservation into this place.

The only difference is that there is nothing new to learn at RedFarm. The technique of just "show up and wait" may be frustrating, but it requires no research; this does.

"They get the first choice of meat from the butcher shop in the front, so their sliders are amazing. Everything is so artful,” says lifestyle consultant Smolen.

FUCK OFF AND DIE.

Its own Website says it's not open to the public. So if anything, it's pretending to be a private club, but actually isn't. :headscratch:

[inscrutable UK wit.]

So what's a lifestyle consultant? I'm guessing BMS 12 wagyu sliders are involved.
