Yes, he was still alive. No longer, at 98. His horror movies based on Poe stories deeply affected me as a kid, for better or worse.

Now want to see them again.

OMG.  He was a base that so many began from. His quality may have been variable but he encouraged a lot of young talent.  As for Vincent Price, well, he had a great art collection.
