The preview dinner menu looks meh, to me

from zagat

This exclusive evening begins with a Lennox Cocktail – corn liquor, chamomile syrup and Prosecco – and a selection of passed canapés including green curry prawns, tarte flambé and Wagyu sliders. Wine pairings then accompany the next two courses – Montauk lobster salad and seared wild striped bass – while the homestyle fried coconut chicken served with chive-corn waffle, collard greens and mac'n'cheese will be accompanied by an equally homey golden ale. The evening's triumphant finale will be sweet potato doughnuts with maple brittle ice cream enjoyed alongside Stormy Hen House Cocktails.

To be honest, that is how much of Marcus's food strikes me. I didn't like Riingo, I didn't like Merkato, and very few of his creations for Top Chef looked very appealing.

My girlfriend lived in Sweden for a year, and she used to be a big fan, but she has soured on him too. I think he had an undeniable talent for classic Swedish cooking. Once he departed from that, he started throwing ingredients together that didn't make a whole lot of sense. Fusion for fusion's sake.

No, Samuelsson's wife, "Gate Haile is not near left", on the photo.

What's up with the NYT?

"At right, Christopher Peregrin (shirtless) with housemates." No.

Are the print edition photos back to front from the web ones?

In the web picture of Mr Peregrin, the word Beach on the sign is properly positioned (not mirror image). Same thing for the label on the water bottle on the table in front of Mr Samuelsson

Well spotted. So my brain isn't haywire (at least in this case).
