Maison Rustique
I haven't forgotten you! I'll PM you before you leave--just have had a lot on my plate lately. And it wasn't anything to eat.

Rail Paul
Bootleg Brewery wins some sort of contest. whoo i guess. Bootleger is held in considerable esteem by beer drinkers. as you noted above. I'm impressed they've jumped on the "rye" beer wagon. The food truck schedule is listed on their website. Short Stop BBQ truck tonight, OC Food Truck tomorrow etc. Bootleggers
Behemoth
Mmm...Cream Pan... Good croissants are really a major quality of life thing for me, ya know? Kind of good that it's not within walking distance though. Butter coma. There's an Okinawan place in Tustin I'm keen on trying...anyone been there?
Behemoth
OC Weekly on cappucino I'm sorry, but while Kean's cappucinos are probably the best available in OC, if the writer is really saying they are as good as what you get in Italy then I have to believe he exclusively ordered his cappucinos from train station fast food stands. The cappucinos ar Keans are way too milky and the foam is done pretty incompetently despite the slideshow of properly made ones they like to run on the monitor in the background. That said, I really wish Cream Pan would open a branch in Munich. Oh, and re pizza places, we've been to Pizzeria Ortica twice. The first time I found the Margherita pizza way too salty, I think due to over-salting of the tomato sauce. The second time I ordered the salsiccia pizza though, and that was really outstanding. Glad I gave it a second chance, but I would think twice before ordering a pie with tomato sauce on it.
Priscilla
Right on! Cream Pan is absolutely world-class. What have you tried? Not an espresso drink (though they do make them), but CP's regular coffee is very good. No need to put oneself through Kean, truly.
Behemoth
A bunch of stuff so far -- the only one I didn't really care for was the ham and cheese croissant (too rich for me) but my current obsession is the almond croissant. Which is also rich but somehow not too rich, or maybe just rich in the right way, or something. Anyway, I also get an epi each week, that is some very nice bread. Took A out for peking duck at Tri-Village yesterday. It was a lot of food for two people but we basically demolished it. Very good, and the owner was super nice. Definitely need to go back there to try more of the normal menu.
Jesikka
Anyone eaten in Orange County lately? My father just gave me a list of places he wants to try while I'm in town for the next couple days. Among things I'm curious about: -Playground (I think this will be a sloppy mess of a momofuku copy but I can't help but be curious) -Break of Dawn -East Borough -Broadway by Amar Santana Any thoughts on any of those or any other must-do spots in OC? I did notice there's now a din tai fun in OC, which is exciting.
Maison Rustique
Admittedly I haven't been there in 5 years, but Break of Dawn was always a favorite when we still lived there. A delightful surprise to most people the first time they go. Please let us know where you go/how they are. I may be making a trip back there soon.
cstuart
Is there still the breakfast/lunch/brunch place next to train tracks where you sit outside of an old converted house? I think somewhere in south Orange County but not sure. I went there in college a couple times and it was a nice experience sitting outside, some kind of walking avenue in the front. I remember the food being good but it was years ago and I was young.

Haven't been there in years--the restaurant portion has changed hands numerous times over the years, so likely isn't the same as when you were there, if indeed that is the place. cstuart
It is San Juan Capistrano, but it's not in the train station but across the tracks. It's called Ramos House. If I remember correctly, the owner actually lives in the house. I like the directions from their site: ...if you are coming on the train and you can't find us, you are hopeless. http://www.ramoshouse.com/ http://www.yelp.com/biz/ramos-house-san-juan-capistrano
Maison Rustique
Oh, gosh! I'd completely forgotten about it! I know I've been there but honestly don't recall the food at all. I do remember the charm!
