[Atlantic City] Dining at Caesar's Resort

Recommended Posts

We had the opportunity to take a quick trip to AC over the weekend for the Ice Skating Show (A Salute to the Golden Age of American Skating) with friends. It was a non-fine-dining adventure, but these notes may be of help.

Caesar's has rebuilt the Million Dollar Pier into a three level mall, with shops ranging from Tiffany to Brookstone. A few high end shops like Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Tourneau, and several fur dealers, down to the standard mall fare like Brookstone, Body Shop, Juicy Couture, etc. The top deck is the domain of restaurants, with a Phillips Seafood restaurant, Trinity Carvery and Pub, a sports bar, etc.

Trinity is a dark wood faux-Irish pub, with six brews on tap. I took a house stout, made by Harpoon. Good. Whiskey burger, with several slices of thick bacon, tomato, Irish cheese melting on the burger, and a mound of good fries. Good burger, prob 10 oz, cooked medium rare. Brew and burger came to about $20, a relative bargain on a property where a 16 oz Diet Pepsi is $3.

Phillips Seafood is a branch of the Baltimore seafood packer. Big place, nice bar. Their bar deal is excellent. Happy hour runs M-F, 4 to 7pm, and includes oysters for a buck, raw shrimp, crab fritters, etc all for a buck. Draft beer and generous wine pours for $4. Plate of calamari for $4 was excellent. The crabcake sandwich was good, but a little bready for my taste. $12 with fries. The happy hour deal is not available at the tables.

There are several very nice places in the Caesar's complex, including Mia (Georges Perrier and Chris Scarduzio), vb Bar, and KWT, a noodle bar, but I didn't sample them on this go around. Mia's menu was very engaging, with a number of vanilla etc infused foods, many Asian accents, etc. vb Bar is upstairs in the casino and includes an expansive burger selection. Pick a meat and a size (6oz, 8oz, 10 oz, etc), then pick a cheese, then pick toppings, etc.

KWT is a noodle restaurant on the high roller poker side of the lower casino level. Many noodle, meat, and vegetable combinations.

We get down to Atlantic City perhaps once a year. I usually like to stay at Borgata, and nothing in this visit to Caesar's would cause me to change that preference.
