It's funny. "Moonlight in Vermont" is one of those songs -- "Autumn Leaves" is probably the prototype -- that's so famous in an instrumental jazz version that I tend to forget it has words.


The anecdote about "Moonlight in Vermont" at the end of the obituary is pretty great.

She had one of those perfectly lovely, almost bland voices and exquisite taste. it was a great combination.

Her Capitol years were considered her best but I think her album of Jerome Kern with the swinging Russ Garcia arrangements is a Desert Island Disc.
