nuxvomica
I have observed before, he does know how to get honey with balloons. pretty awesome to watch, no?
TaliesinNYC
I'll concede its similarly priced to $17 fried chicken at Redhead. So he wins on that score. More convenient for me to go to Redhead though. Less hoops to jump through.
Robert Brown
Six of us had the chickens last night and to a man (actually I was the only man) all agreed the meal was a disaster. It was really bad execution and conception. We left seven pieces untouched. Also the pork buns were the worst I've ever had there: fatty, greasy, and otherwise tasteless, When you see that Chang may be the most discussed and written-about chef in America now, serving food in restaurants that are raucus (except for Momofuku Ko), uncomfortable, and without class or charm, you want to run to the nearest airport and get on the next flight to Paris or Milan. Just goes to show how out of touch you are. (eta: That was semi-tongue in cheek by the way, but my post below isn't.)
Wilfrid1
That the restaurants are uncomfortable and raucous can hardly be doubted. I should have thought they'd execute the food though; they usually do. Thanks for the report.
Robert Brown
You're right. LGA doesn't have flights to Europe. I don't have to accept dilution, greed and preying on innocents if I know where to go to avoid it.

I don't have to accept dilution, greed and preying on innocents if I know where to go to avoid it. Dilution, greed, preying on innocents? I'm speaking only on Ssam Bar, BUT the food is not 'diluted', I've never felt ripped off, 'preying on innocents' is beyond me. I can't say I often speak of objective standards, but if there's anything close then I propose that SB has some of the best food in the city. (And yes I have eaten in Europe. And in 3 Michelin starred places.)
Orik
LGA doesn't have flights to Europe. You can go to Montreal and pretend.
splinky
Almost went for shitake buns, today but it was way to hot to walk another block
Sneakeater
So you flew to Europe instead, right?
Robert Brown
No, it's obvious I went to Noodle Bar instead. I didn't mean the food there is diluted, just gastronomy, that's all.
Orik
Does this look appealing to people who like chicken? http://www.alwayshungryny.com/thought-for-...chicken-dinner/
Rich
Does this look appealing to people who like chicken? http://www.alwayshungryny.com/thought-for-...chicken-dinner/ Interesting article Orik - thanks. What I find notable - the author says it cost six people $20 each including tax and tip. Obviously they drank water. The chicken was $100 - tax is $8.82. That means they left an $11.18 tip. Steve R.
Does this look appealing to people who like chicken? http://www.alwayshungryny.com/thought-for-...chicken-dinner/ You talkin' to me? Actually, it does look like something we'd go to, although not if we had to jump thru the usual Chang hoops to get a seat.
splinky
the crust on the southern fried looks a bit overdone but maybe that's because of the old bay. i think of things like old bay and lawry's season salt as fried chicken cheats. i do like the idea of the veggies and the pancakes
