AaronS
So I have a serious craving for Korean Fried Chicken and can get to Koreatown today. I have no idea where to go.
Anthony Bonner
Fatty 'Cue was a home run with him. Thanks for the idea. So much better than our one visit to W'burg location. Cocktails were good, but I've come to the conclusion that cocktails + fermented fish flavors might be the worst taste combination imaginable.
TaliesinNYC
So I have a serious craving for Korean Fried Chicken and can get to Koreatown today. I have no idea where to go. Stay away from Hangawi. Worst restaurant experience ever.
Sneakeater
Fortunately not a place one would be apt to go for fried chicken.
TaliesinNYC
Bon Chon is the place for Korean fried chicken. Daniel has a post about it either here or on eG.
AaronS
OK thanks. I didn't get to this and will go to Bon Chon when I do.
Daisy
Not me, but for a good friend. His mother-in-law is in town. I have met her and spent time with her (including almost a week in London several years ago) and while she is very nice she is extremely high maintenance. He has reservations for him, bf,m-i-l at Onegin, which I have heard of but know nothing of except that it's Russian and kind of flashy. He also asked me about Monte's. Again, nada. Wilfrid
... it's Russian and kind of flashy. He also asked me about Monte's. Again, nada. I've walked past Onegin a few times and peered in the window. The menu is much the same as Mari Vanna's - Russian classics - but the ambience is more formal, less kitsch. My Russian friends walked out before their appetizer. I didn't get the whole story, but it was something about the "Champagne" not being from France and the staff not acknowledging that this might matter in any way. Caveat emptor. Wilfrid
Between Tribeca and Chinatown for lunch? Strong vegetarian options required. Mehtaphor would have been ideal, but doesn't open for lunch. Anything interesting outside Chinatown? Roughly between Columbus Park and West Broadway. Thanks.
Wilfrid
Lazy bastards.
Suzanne F
Sorry, I was out of the office: Taj Tribeca, 18 Murray Street, just west of Broadway.
Wilfrid
Thanks. I was looking a bit more uptown, north of Chambers. Was looking for somewhere smart-ish but it seems hopeless. A lot of places don't open for lunch. Megu? Not thrilled at the idea. Landmarc, maybe, but it's not great for vegetarians.
Wilfrid
Maybe I should jump in a cab and just ask where I can eat a decent lunch below 14th Street. I almost never eat lunch downtown.
Wilfrid
Nobu has tables, and the lunch menu is reasonable.
