rozrapp
4 people on a saturday night west village, gramercy, east village, looking for a prime time reservation. oof. anything goes though as long as the food is good. You don’t say when this is for. Obviously, the further out, the better the chance for a prime time table. We really like Simon & the Whale, in the Freehand Hotel (on Lex b/t 23rd & 24th). As in tonight Saturday night? I see tables (between 7 and 9, inclusive) at: Beatrice Inn Pierre Lapin Hearth Ssam Bar The Dutch Chouchou Kyo Ya (caveat: I haven’t been since the new chef took over)

rozrapp
thanks! for next saturday. I did think about kyo ya but wasn't sure either... As it happens, our daughter and son-in-law are going to Kyo Ya this evening. They’ve been there before, so I’ll ask them how it is with the new chef.

Daniel
Live tweeting from Joe and Pat’s. Pizza is delicious . All of Rich’s suggestions laughed at me when I called this morning. The vodka slice at Joe and Pat's is so good.

Never a disappointment with the food.

Very disappointed with their meal. No sushi chef. Ergo, no sushi!
Neocon maudit
Attending book discussion [really a 'young conservatives' event—Ross Douthat will be there ] in a Gramercy Pack club scheduled to wind up round 10.30 pm. Maiolino closes at 10, the bar at 11. Any place else nearby where I could take a late dinner afterwards? I suppose I could just head down into the East Village. Ssäm Bar is little more than ten minutes walk and closes at 11.30 pm.

tighe
Empellon Midtown wouldn't work at that price point tho. (Tho it would give the Seattlites a cram session in hedge fund bro culture) I like the Atoboy idea. $23 for two lengua tacos at Empellon Taqueria? Yeah, I'd say my budget would be blown long before the typical number of tacos I eat. While acknowledging that I'm from a backwater city, that's stupid.
Anthony Bonner
Its on the first floor of a building designed for hedge fund managers whose egos require them to have their own floor despite having a small # of employees.

Well, that lengua is just a Tuesday night special, I assume it’s dolled up a bit. It’s also the most expensive taco they offer at that location. But Empellon Midtown is totally doable at $100/pp. Say: Queso Fundido or Cabbage Salad ($18) to share An order of the most expensive tacos, octopus or pastrami ($22) Two entrees - say, the pork belly and sea bream ($36 each) Two $8 desserts That’s a decent meal, $128 before tax/tip. With one person who doesn’t drink, easily doable under $200 with a couple beers for the one drinker. If you’re not into desserts scrap ‘em and get another order of tacos.
