Sneakeater
Only a quasi-transition. She'd been the chef for quite a while -- but not the sole owner. (This is uninteresting and unimportant, I acknowledge.)

prasantrin
Could someone try Bad Saint and tell me if Pete Wells knows his Filipino food.
prasantrin
Not that you can judge food by photos, but I am wary of his three star rating.
Sneakeater
I'm pretty pissed off. I hope these out-of-town reviews are not going to all be three-star reviews of places that couldn't possibly merit three stars.
Lex
Putting on my Cynical Hat, I see it this way. Wells' bosses told him he had to review out of town places. He could give some of them one star ratings but that would make the bosses look bad since they're spending money and time on this project. Giving three star ratings makes his bosses look like geniuses and supports the Times' efforts to morph into an upscale version of USA Today.Pete Wells - team player. Rich
Why review a place that no "normal" person would ever consider visiting?
Suzanne F
Interesting that a fair number of comments lament the "out-of-town" reviewing, and almost as many lambaste those for being by "provincial New Yorkers." Very few are actually about the restaurant or its food.
