We went to Le French Diner last night. Started with socca and a green salad.  She had onglet, I had confit.  Ended with a shared panna cotta.

Seriously, this is a flaw in writing restaurant reviews. What are they doing and are they doing it well? Those are the questions, not does it happen to suit me personally? At least, that’s a secondary question.

What is the point of having a time when you make reservations live if there are no reservations? 

Resy says they book 2 weeks out at 9AM. I literally refreshed the website at 9AM and there were no four tops before 930 PM.

I've tried for several dates at 9am 2 weeks out and gotten nothing for the 2 of us.  I wish them well, but this is worse than standing on line.  I won't be continuing to try.

Yep. And very complimentary fwiw although doubtless they believe they are a 3 star restaurant.

Spelling her own restaurant name incorrectly is extra special given the level of nitpicky detail.

That's how I always feel when I see their critics praising chefs for dishes that I know were created and taught to the cooks actually making the food by consultants.

Sneak opined on reviews of many kinds, particularly music. I wish I could read his take on things like this: In Defense of the Traditional Review

E.g. “For instance, it’s a fundamental error of editors and reviewers alike to consider classical-music concert reviews as mere accounts of performers and performances”.
