Weekly Flower Delivery Service?

Recommended Posts

Any recommendations for a good, reasonably priced weekly flower service for a Manhattan residence?

i like h.bloom and have heard good things about scottsflowers. if you have a local florist you like they would probably be happy to provide such a service. i've been gifted with weekly delivery service to my office but can't recall the names of the companies. all were fine. it really depends on budget and weather or not you want a fancy vase to go with each delivery. some of the better services import flowers from overseas and deliver them the day they arrive which means long lasting arrangements. flowers should pretty much last the entire week in a climate controlled situation. if they only look good for a few days you should ditch and try a new service. i received an arrangement almost 2 weeks ago with roses and peruvian lilies. the roses just gave out two days ago and the lilies still look good.

I primarliy use Ariston for arrangements. I would assume you could set up a weekly delivery with them.

Use very clean containers for flowers and change the water frequently for best vase life. Many flowers are sensitive to the fluoride in tap water. Use distilled or spring water especially for roses, alstromeria, gerbera daisies, gladioli and baby's breath. There is a maximum cold storage that various flowers can take without affecting vase life. The cold stage can halt senescence for that period which is amazing with flowers like peonies which hold for ages in cold storage.

Sorry to go off topic, but for those of you cutting from the garden, it is often best to cut when you see the buds form petal divisions but they are not yet open - this is true for peonies, daisies. For flowers like glads, wait until you see the color and yet, most of the buds are not open.
