Excellent New Dish Alert

I went for the Belons. But I stayed for the venison (and any number of other dishes, many of which appeared unbidden and none of which was less than very good, some much better than very good).

Dave is taking a venison loin and serving it with smoked and pickled grapes. The venison is, of necessity, farmed, and so is no big deal in itself (although unless and until Stone kills another deer, farmed venison is all I'm going to be having). Very well cooked, though.

But those smoked and pickled grapes! What a great idea! A really haunting flavor that you can't get out of your head: the pickling emphasizes the slightly puckery quality of the grapes' sweetness, and the smoking provides a whole other dimension to the finish.

And how perfect they taste with venison!

Bravo. Everyone who thinks they might like this needs to have it.

COMP DISCLOSURE: More food and drink than I usually consume in a meal.

That sounds wonderful, Dave. Any chance some of these items may be on specials / on the menu later in the week?

Going on November 1 to celebrate Paul's birthday. His sister and brother-in-law offered take him (us) out, and I figured this would be a good opportunity to introduce them to Louro. Sister said they were just at Cookshop ("A really trendy food area now.") but they do like to eat at good places. And b-i-l likes good wine.
