Stone
Thinking about it. I may ask them to throw in a high powered router... Ask for the Festool 2200.
Sneakeater
Where I am, it's either Verizon or Cablevision. I think it's very neighborhood-specific.
Abbylovi
Well I tried to break up with TW but they basically cut my bill in half so for 12 more months they've got me.

Anthony Bonner
Amazingly our cable has been out since Sunday. I called Tuesday. Turns out our whole building was out but I was the first to call. Why? Enough signal for broadband
Suzanne F
Since I will need to get cable in order to have Internet after I move, I welcome any advice for grabbing TW's balls. Particularly since I probably will NOT want any TV.
prasantrin
Yeah. How do you do that thing where they just offer you deals? I tried to hint around once, and even told my provider I was going to switch to the other provider (there are only two in my area), but no luck. And I'm a sucker, and I can't be pushy. Abbylovi
All I did was call fully intending to cancel. When they asked me why, I said it was too expensive and they made it clear they wanted to keep me. splinky you're paying for someone's yacht so they'll definitely want to keep you happy. About a year ago I called to get a better deal - and they gave me something idiotic like $5 off my bill. When calling the key is to follow the prompts for cancelling service, those are the people authorized to give you a better rate. That's my guess anyway.

Stone
I can't even get TW to offer me a decent price to get me to switch from RCN. And then we had the whole "the router is free! But you pay $5 a month to lease the modem -- which is built into the router!"

Isn't that a router & wi-fi hub as well as a backup?

Isn't that a router & wi-fi hub as well as a backup? Well, I do have a router (airport extreme) and wouldn't want to use the one from TW. What pissed me off was that the guy made a big deal of offering me a free router, and tried to hide the fact that they would charge me for the modem -- even though it was all the same device. Until recently, the modems was free. What he should have said was that I had to pay $5 a month for the modem, but that the modem came with a built-in router. Or something like that.
