In quite possibly the best double-entendre of a name ever, the Times reports that Bâtard (named after a wine region in Burgundy, definitely not a reference to Corton's erstwhile chef) will replace Cor

I just made a dinner reservation here -- and the person taking the reservation turned out to be Cathy!

Of course I understand why they named the restaurant as such. I'm [effing] Chambo, for crying out loud !   You say dumpty, I say humpty. You say Montrachet, I say Batard (or Le).       However,

It's a wine from Cahors.

I’m guessing coincidence that there happened to be an obscure vineyard named Ch. St. Eulalie.

My bet would be they went to see The Music Man last year and just thought it would be a cool-sounding name for a restaurant.

That couple is pretty wine-obsessed, though.

Sure, but I think they’d have continued the tradition of using a Bourgogne AOC if they were going that route. Not just pulled a name from a random obscure house that (from all appearances) just cranks out $15 gallery wine and isn’t notable for anything. But who knows? Maybe they visited on a wine tour and loved the name. Or they’re just really into Saint Eulalia, though her story seems a bit gruesome to model a restaurant after.
