What are your favorites these days?   I've heard State Bird is good. But what else?   We'll be there for a full week, after a few nights in Sonoma.

A couple high profile BBQ openings recently. Star butcher Ryan Farr opened 4505 BBQ & Hamburgers. A visit shortly after opening was alright -- brisket was the best, didn't care for the ribs (not m

Anything in particular you're looking for?

Try for Lazy Bear if you can. Not sure how he'll do in a real space but hopefully it translates over.

There's been a little french trend -- Benjamin is good, basically what you'd expect. I haven't been to Urchin (you lived here before ya? A walk down Valencia has changed so much, even compared to a couple years ago).

Also, better Japanese (not sure worth it coming from NYC). Akikos is my favorite of the sushi centric places (new chef though) but Ichi is super popular and Maruya and Kusakabe have some pedigree. My favorite place to eat is at Izakaya Yuzuki.

Kin Khao of course. If you like beer, Mikkeller is around the corner.

Hesitate to mention as I can't believe it's still alive -- horrible location, barely anyone is ever there when I've been, etc. -- but I've really liked 1601 Bar & Kitchen.

Bar Crudo for seafood.

Not sure when you're here but if Californios is open, try it.

Sons and Daughters at that level.

AC and Coi of course have their fans (and detractors) here.

What area are you staying at?

An apartment - with a parking space! - Kearny and Green. Kind of a favorite neighborhood of ours to stay in, because I can usually find an apartment with a great view. And did.

I was hoping the Niners were going to be at home (so I could attempt to get tix) the Sunday we're there, but no such luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have the bar/cocktail side (scarily) covered.

In that neighborhood, Park Tavern. Favorite regular spot when I lived on that side. Tosca is of course everywhere in the press but I not my food at all.

Also, for a sandwichy lunch, Naked Lunch is good. I'm an outlier in usually liking their non-chicken sandwich options.

Around the corner from you, Little Vine is great to pick up some meat, cheese, and wine for the apartment.

The coffee at reveille is the best (their morning food as well).

Which bars are you looking at?

Been to Park Tavern - will go again, at least for lunch. Reservation made at Kin Khao. May want to go back to La Ciccia - very good, and food that's not easy to come by in NYC.

Thanks for the Reveille tip ( plenty of good coffee to choose from all around town) - more on cocktails as the time approaches.

Meanwhile, AB, what vineyards in Sonoma (we're staying outside Healdsburg) do you recommend?

Bonus points to he who can give the exact address (and floor) of that apartment. As always, correct answers will be confirmed. Frankly, it should be doable with a bit of an internet assist ...

Chambo, where will the next Cup take place?

To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been decided yet.

At one point, they were talking about San Diego or Bermuda.

But they seem to have lined up a nice bunch of challengers.

Many thought it might just be Larry sailing all by himself.

The last cup was the greatest comeback in the history of sports ... ever.

Looks like Union @ Jones, more or less.

That might work as an exact address in Tokyo but it's not a good fit for Frisco.
