Thanks! We wont have a car until we leave Saturday to go to Tahoe. The parking at hotels is outrageous and we wouldnt be able to expense it since the office he will be working from is close to the hotel. But Im sure we could take an Uber.

Oysters in any form are fine with me! Ill check out the places you all recommended.

 

Being from the Northeast, is there anything I should seek out in SF that isnt common in NYC?

 

Cioppino or sand dabs, if you go to the seafood places. Anything with marionberries or ollalieberries if they're available this time of year. Too bad you're too late for Dungeness crab season.

Focaccia from Liguria Bakery on the corner of Stockton and Filbert. Opens at 8 and closes at 2 OR when they sell out which can be earlier than that. Theirs has nothing to do with any focaccia you have ever had. It's best hours out of the oven. Just go in for the aroma if nothing else.

So now Im thinking Hog Island for Oysters. Zuni Cafe for the roast chicken (is it still as good as people claim?) and Liholiho Yacht Club because the menu looks insanely good.

Ill be on my own during the day and depending on if I take advantage of business class and sleep on the flight out (Ill be seeing Billy Joel the night before we leave) I may take advantage of Caviar/ Postmates/ UberEats a few times.

One restaurant in the hotel looks decent Urban Table.

 

Any must eats at AT&T Park? Thanks in advance!

I did want to go when we were there for our short trip, but the timing didn't work out. I know - that really helps.

Back again next week.  Don't know what I'm doing apart from a San Andreo Liberian adventure.

 

Hard getting schedule finalized.  I am sure I will be at Benjamin Cooper at some point, and I am also staying for some of the time near Tony Nik's. Speaking of dives, I still haven't visited the re-located Gold Dust.

Schroeder’s (1893) is a short walk from my hotel, and it was kind of on my list like Tadich for historic reasons. Needed a quick late bite, so...

 

The interior is a slick, shiny modern version of a beer hall. There is no feeling of the age of the place (unlike Berghoff, for example, or indeed Tadich). And the food was lame. Since 1893, you should have learned the secrets of tasty sauerkraut.

 

Oh well, tick it off.

Schroeder's is a short walk from my office, and I've always thought about stopping by one day for a quick beer & sausage lunch.  Now I don't have to.  Fortunately, when I get the itch, there's a German beer hall that migrated from San Mateo to right near where I rehearse in Oakland.

 

The Royal Exchange across the street has been there a while, at least since the mid-1970s as it makes an appearance in the first Tales of the City book.
