sweatshorts
Thanks folks. Made it to both Sqirl and Woon yesterday -- Sqirl was good, but I wouldn't wait in line for it (there was a line out the door at 3PM in the drizzling rain (do people in LA not have jobs?)), and I really liked the noodles at Woon. Adrian
Sneak when are we getting the Vespertine post?

Lot of people in LA have downtime between auditions and performances.
Sneakeater
One of these days, Adrian. Look how long Toronto took!
Behemoth
We’re in town August. If we were to get a babysitter, what would be a really nice place to go? Sushi would be especially interesting for us...
Sneakeater
It's not sushi, but Bavel was one of the most enjoyable meals I had this year. (You might have knowledge and experience leading you to call bullshit that I don't have, though.)
hollywood
Michelin's California guide is crammed with one star sushi restaurants in LA. On the West Side, Mori is dependable. https://la.eater.com/maps/los-angeles-michelin-restaurants-stars-2019-map If you want a less expensive but quality sushi experience, any of the outposts of Sugarfish are reliable. Curiously, many LA sushi restaurants are owned by Koreans. https://www.vice.com/en_asia/article/59wxed/why-korean-sushi-is-better-than-japanese

Sneakeater
In that case, in the same neighborhood, Wurstküche. (Oh, I crack myself up.)
Behemoth
I just realised I never gave feedback here. What did we do? We ended up hanging out both days with old friends in Altadena. I bought wine from a nice store in Pasadena on the way, and dinner assembled from whole foods. Their place had a kidney shaped pool (incl. giant inflatable flamingo) and a bunch of cactus plants and is frequently visited by bears. I think we had the perfect LA experience TBH. Behemoth
whoops--a few months late. nevermind. The trip was in August so only a little too late.
Sneakeater
I still haven't written up most of my trip in April. (It weighs on me.)
Neocon maudit
I don't suppose anyone's been to Daniel Rose's new Basque restaurant in downtown Los Angeles?
