[PHL] Durand-Ruel in Philadelphia

The Bergen Record has an article about an upcoming show in Philadelphia. This art dealer bankrolled many of the Impressionist artists and acquired a considerable inventory over the years. This show certainly could be combined with a visit to the new Barnes for a few days of Impressionist overload. Museum of Art.


Although the period leading to Independence Day tends to become very crazy in Philadelphia.




In Philadelphia, the last stop, it's called "Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel and the New Painting," and Thompson said the museum intended for it to have a triple meaning.

Visitors to the exhibition, which comprises 95 impressionist works, will discover Durand-Ruel, never before the subject of a museum show; his discovery of the new and struggling artists; and a discovery — perhaps even a rediscovery — of impressionism through the lens of Durand-Ruel.
