Fritzl's Lunch Box

Recommended Posts

did you eat anything else? there's much better stuff on that menu.

Not last night. All the adventurous stuff is off the menu.

I liked the burger very much but Solares is crazy.

My experience, too, the last couple of times I've been there.

When were you there last, Aaron?

Yes, the menu has been trimmed. There's a very good fried cod sandwich, but I think it's a tough season to be offering the range of specials they used to offer.

Truth is, it's great to get raved about by online foodies, but paying the bills means serving what regulars want--which sadly probably isn't octopus and blood sausage donuts.

it's been a long time but I think even the chicken sandwich is better than the burger.

I'm going to try to go this week or next.

the menu doesn't seemed that dumbed down to me and the food is just as good as it always was.

no specials but the regular menu doesn't seem less adventurous than it did before.

Beloved Bushwick Burger Joint Fritzl's Is Thinking About Closing

The owner of Fritzl's Lunch Box, a Bushwick restaurant beloved for its burger, is thinking about closing up shop. Nothing is for sure yet, but chef and owner Dan Ross-Leutwyler has put the restaurant space up for sublease, according to a post on Craigslist. Ross-Leutwyler says while he has no immediate plans to close, he is "testing the waters" to see what kind of response he can get from the market. Being a sole proprietor of the restaurant has been getting "harder and harder" since Fritzl's opened a few years ago, he says. "Nothing is final yet," he says. "It’s a highly competitive market that I’ve chosen to open my business in. It’s difficult. It’s not easy."

Yet another reminder of what a tough business it is.

you do know he is having problems? It also could be because he wants to expand or change locations.. If you signed a lease two years ago in Bushwick, it is possible that you could make some nice cash subletting or selling the lease..
