Wilfrid
Louis 649. A pioneer in terms of bringing cocktails to the neighborhood, and a really nice place. You can't move for cocktails now, of course.
LiquidNY
Is Hasaki any good? Some date insisted on going there once. It was OK. I went there on Thursday. Yeah, it was OK. Not bad for the price, I guess. Ended up being around $195 + tip for two, including a lot of sake.
Wilfrid
Based on a quick first visit, Villa Cemita in the old Bagel Zone space on Avenue A looks like a good addition to the neighborhood. The cemitas are huge, stuffed with good, fresh things--plenty of hoja santa. Reminds me of El Paso up in Harlem. Other plates coming out looked nice. Freshly made salsa with the chips. LiquidNY
Dinner tonight at Cooper's Craft & Kitchen - a sports bar on 2nd Ave. $1 fish tacos on Monday nights. Also had the brussels sprouts and steak tartare. Fish tacos were a little bland (had to dump hot sauce on them). Brussels sprouts and steak tartare were not amazing, but certainly better than they need to be for a place like this. Washed it down with a glass of cider. The bill came to $33 + tip. Not bad at all. En route to East Berlin @169 Ave A, which has been approximately 87 different places since I started going. And yet Zaragoza is still Zaragoza.
