As someone recently pointed out, I am very much a "glass half empty" kind of guy.   That being said, occasionally there is a beam of joy in the misery that is my life.   Today,it was coming home a

It is a perfect day in Paris too. Had a lovely walk around the 9th this morning, and will soon be going to meet a friend for lunch, it will be nice to eat outside.

Because of some holiday, the subway is very empty today.

From the Rebecca thread:

I don't recall her posting a recipe here but she mentioned it. Earlier she had started a whole thread on "New Century Appetizers" that yielded some astonishing gelatinous things; it was classic Rebecca! I do hope you are able to find the mold; this is the kind of thing that helps families endure.

What a link.

This makes me so nostalgic for a different era. I remember the feelings and the excitement of reading and posting here! All sites ebb and flow but this was really a sweet time.

I was looking at my mantelpiece where I keep my theater tickets and I have a lot of treats in store in the next month or two:

tonight "Duet for One" with Juliet Stephenson, then Waiting for Godot with McKellen, Helen Mirren as Phèdre, ...

:)

I saw Godot last weekend and Lane and John Goodman couldn't save it from itself. It's one long shaggy dog story. Nothing happens for 2 hours. Get it? Get it? Ho ho ho. At one point 4 actors were laying on the stage for 5 minutes talking about how they couldn't or wouldn't get up. Riveting stuff.

The humor level of Saturday Night Live ebbs and flows as the cast and the writers cycle through. There are 2 or 3 year periods when you wonder why anyone is watching at all. These are marked by skits that start off badly and clearly are going nowhere. Then they continue pointlessly for another 10 minutes.

That's Godot, only it goes on for 2 fucking hours.

That's why it's called Theater of the Absurd.
