joethefoodie
I'm pretty positive I saw the "Justin Bieber of food" (I didn't make that shit up) (okay, Flynn McGarry) shopping at Essex Market yesterday. Buying up all the good butter from Formaggio Essex (that's okay), picking up a lot of packages of cherry tomatoes at Essex Farms (hey, the guy shops at some of the same places I do, and even if I don't buy the tomatoes, that's okay), and stopping at Luis Meat Market (which I had no reason to do, so I didn't see what he bought there). Wilfrid
I was down at Formaggio today. Fortunately I didn't need butter.
prasantrin
One of my former students was recently named as one of Japan's astronaut candidates. If she passes, I can say I know an astronaut. Kinda weird, but cool.
Sneakeater
How cool to know an astronaut!
Sneakeater
(How could auto fill have possibly just known that I was typing “astronaut”?)
Wilfrid
I always believed this in theory, but I just confirmed that if one grossly, grossly overeats, an iced Fernet-Branca really is soothing.

So Ana and Carlotta liked my latest comment about Hinds on IG, but of course I really care about Ana liking me. This is so teenage. But they are so great.

mitchells
I am more of a fan of the Crawfish Strudel than the Crawfish Bread but still sad. Lot's of controversy with Jazzfest going "cashless" this year and the speculation is more long time vendors may opt out in addition to the Crawfish Bread vendor. Wilfrid
Treading lightly, so many reasons to be cheerful; at least three specific things excluded by our honored guidelines; a personal encounter, unexpected but heartwarming; and after just being lazy for months I finally registered for “half off for Harlem” and will be using my cut-price ticket for Amateur Night at the Apollo tomorrow. And was out tonight in just a t-shirt.
Wilfrid
We are getting close to a quarter of a million posts in our New York forum. (EGullet has fewer than 100k in its New York dining and cooking forums combined. Not that it's a competition.)
small h
Lotta yappers, here.
Sneakeater
People used to rag on me for serial posting rather than putting everything into a single post.
