Rail Paul
Sad. I remember seeing him in Private Lives years ago. Saw a huge crowd waiting at the stage door line afterward Passed by two hours later, Rickman was actively engaged in conversation with a few young people. Impassioned, sharing. Probably after midnight by then.
LiquidNY
I didn't see that one coming.
mitchells
Is there an actor on the planet who had steadier work than him? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000614/

Suzanne F
Brian Bedford? Except he didn't do movies.
Wilfrid
This is as cheesy as it gets, but I always think of it when I think of Rickman.
Wilfrid
Ah, I just noticed the continuing Scott Walker theme. Sorry...
Sneakeater
It was cheesy, but I loved that movie even before I knew I was going to be a widower. Saw it with the future decedent, even. It's been 10 years, and I still haven't got to the point at the end where the ghosts are cheering. OK, back to Alan Rickman.
Wilfrid
Me, I completely overlooked that he apparently has something to do with Harry Potter. When Sir Ian McKellen passes, I suppose we'll be deluged by Gandalf memories.

LiquidNY
Pancreatic cancer - and he only found out about it in August.
H. du Bois
He was so great in Private Lives that I saw him twice. Interestingly, the crowd awaiting him at the stage door wasn't filled with middle aged ladies - it was teenage boys who were Snape fans. The week has not been kind to 69 year old Brits whom I adore.
