splinky Posted March 30, 2016 Author Share Posted March 30, 2016 my mother's mom a south carolina native always added sugar but used coarse cornmeal. my aunt (father's sister) aka the cleaning fairytm a north carolina native prefers a medium white cornmeal and adds no sugar.
