hollywood
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minutes-morley-safer-dies-at-84/ Well, I guess his 60 minutes are up. (Maybe he should have retired sooner?)
Rail Paul
The network did a fine send off for him the other night. He's among the last of the Vietnam era reporters still actively at work. (Of course, the active fighting for Americans ended more than 40 years ago)
Sneakeater
He's among the last of the Vietnam era reporters still actively at work. Ummmmm, no he isn't. (Paul, I think you might not realize just how definitive his retirement has become.)
Rail Paul
actively in the sense of recently?
Sneakeater
Safer isn't "still" anything (sadly).
Lex
I have watched 60 Minutes from the beginning. Safer and Wallace made that show what it is. There have been lots of worthy successors who have continued in their footsteps but the impact of those two can't be underestimated. And lets not forget Don Hewitt and Harry Reasoner. Over the years the show has had occasional stumbles but its overall body of work is terrific. RIP Morely. What a great career.
Really Nice!
Great piece about him retiring on 60 Minutes last Sunday. His retirement lasted a week. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/05/19/morley-safer-dead/
