Lex
Only 7 for me. I suspect I'd score higher on a list of New York's iconic bars.
rozrapp
Where's the chocolate egg-cream at the Gem Spa, for instanceI wonder, too. Or at Ray’s. But it is a drink, not a dish.
Daniel
27 for me..
voyager
I was thinking how regional these picks were, how uninteresting most of them were to my taste and wondered how SF would fare. Voila. https://sf.eater.com/maps/san-francisco-iconic-foods-classic-dishes-best-drinks Yup. Definitely hometown favorites.
StephanieL
I got 15, 16 if you count the fact that I've had the Halal Guys' food, but at their outpost here in San Jose. I've had a hot dog at Gray's, but never 2 at a time.
Sneakeater
That's why you look like you, and I look like me.
voyager
That's why you look like you, and I look like me. Can we trade? I could use an extra decade. And I have s very adaptable palate.
Sneakeater
You know, it's interesting how many dishes on cinghiale's list (hi, by the way) supposedly originated at the OG Delmonico's.
Sneakeater
Vichyssoise: who knew? (Apparently, that claim is subject to some dispute.)
Wilfrid
I got 15, 16 if you count the fact that I've had the Halal Guys' food, but at their outpost here in San Jose. I've had a hot dog at Gray's, but never 2 at a time. You know I honestly have no specific memory, but it's a safe bet I have.
Wilfrid
Cool list, cinghiale. I will have to google chicken divan. Must be more cocktails, surely.
Wilfrid
Whoa, take away the broccoli and chicken divan is very like duckling Mondor. Good cheese and cream, and pistachios rather than almonds in the latter. That's almost as interesting as discovering that Tolkien got the idea for The Hobbit from a Bulldog Drummond story. Orik
Vichyssoise: who knew? (Apparently, that claim is subject to some dispute.) Maybe just the name, I'm pretty sure leek and potato soup with more or less the same recipe has been around for a while. I've had 13 or 14 of those (not sure if looking in digust at the rotting chicken and shredded prefab doner counts as trying Halal Guys).
