Suzanne F
It's been a few years--probably not recent enough for you--but I really liked Little Goat. More casual than Girl and the Goat, great fried chicken.
Adrian
all in the same ballpark price range as publican from last year's trip - parachute was interesting, but wasn't floored, still worth a visit; fat rice was a load of fun; roister a bit more expensive but quite good and worth the price difference. Daniel
Publican has been consistently good.. Though, i hate Chicago's set up of, huge, financed restaurant group locations with 200 seats or more.. It's so impersonal and institutional..
Wilfrid
I'm holding an off-peak reservation at Girl & Goat. Worth it, or old news?
mongo_jones
my friends ended up at schwa among other places. they liked the food but found the restaurant oppressively loud. and they're 10 years younger than me.
Wilfrid
I can imagine being fairly annoyed at doing a $200-ish dinner in oppressively loud surroundings. This isn't a place where you can call it quits after two courses and a glass of wine if it's truly uncomfortable (noting Daniel's remarks about generally large and loud restaurants here two). mongo_jones
it's a tiny restaurant apparently. they said they had to scream to hear each other across a table, and that after a point it began to negatively affect their ability to pay attention to the food. Josh Karpf
The Gage at 24 South Michigan for steak + drinks? I'll try malort before I try the casseroles of Chicago pizza.

Daniel
Someone recently posted a good meal in Chicago but cant find where. Heading to Chicago on the 10, sending back another case of Malorts for sure
Wilfrid
My hotel is three minutes walk from the Art Institute where they not only have some current shows which look good, but apparently Caillebotte's "Rainy Day in Paris." They also have "Sunday in the Park With George," which is wonderful, but which I've seen a few times as it tours like the Dead did.
Wilfrid
Shocked by how long it is since I've been to Chicago. Holding the Girl & Goat reservation as the menu does look good.
Sneakeater
The Art Institutes whole French Early Modern collection is kind of awesome.
Wilfrid
Indeed, and I have a nice gap in my schedule for it. I went to the old Berghoff years ago. It's right by the hotel so I might eat at the bar there as well as G&G. Looking like a good trip.
